Vitter Announces $1.2M Grant for LSU Research, Coastal Protection

U.S. Sen. David Vitter (R-La.) today announced that Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, La. will be receiving a grant of $1,199,154 from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to establish a Coastal Resilience Collaboratory research program.

"We Louisianians understand how important our coastlines are to protecting our homes and businesses from storms and flooding," said Vitter. "I am excited to see LSU bring together some of the best and brightest researchers and scientists to work toward identifying better and more efficient ways to protect our coastal communities."

The NSF grant will go toward establishing a Coastal Resilience Collaboratory at LSU for coastal engineers, earth scientists, and computer scientists to research and identify flood risk and protections in coastal communities.
